Are energy drinks good for you?

Are they addictive? Why are they marketed toward kids? Has society really run out of energy? How safe are they when used all the time? How many per day do others drink? My husband drinks 3 or 4 a day!

  1. in a word, No.

    the ingredients are concentrated forms of things found in [if you're  lucky] naturals foods.  You might as well eat a couple of spoonfuls of un-brewed coffee grounds, swallow about a 1/4 cup of powdered sugar, and chase it with a shot of maple syrup.  Same effect, but without the extra preservatives and chemical additives.

    People today are lazy, and want the quick path to...everything.  

    Phillips Distilleries have a slogan on the bottom of their alcholic beverage labels, "Enjoy in Moderation".  This applies to EVERYTHING, including strenuous exercise,  if you really want to stay healthy.


  2. there are studies that show that caffeine is addictive and it has bad effects on the body. energy drinks give energy because it has caffeine and sugar.

    energy drinks have also been known to cause heart palpitations, headaches and "jolt and crash" (a feeling of increased alertness and energy (the jolt) followed by a sudden drop in energy (the crash))

    energy drinks are marketed to mostly college students because they need lots of extra energy for cramming, not sleeping and partying.

    in my opinion, more than 1 drink a day is too much.

  3. Your husband is drinking enough to cause a serious risk to his heart. Caffeine is highly addictive and has similar neurological effects as nicotine. They are marketed toward kids for the same reason ciggarettes used to be marketed toward kids - to get them addicted so they'll continue to buy them throughout their life...

    I wouldn't drink one if someone payed me (and people have offered to do just that).
