  1. An entry level Denon AV receiver is good for an entry level TV and speakers. If you have a medium or high end TV and speakers use an appropriate receiver. A balance system is the best set- up. An all budget system or an all high end system. Mixing will result in a poor performance as the high end system will expose the weakness of the budget equipment.


  2. Currently, not really.  For what you pay for an entry level Denon, you could buy a Harman Kardon, or Yamaha receiver that decodes HDMI audio with Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HDMA.  The Denon will only do passthrough.

    The high-end Denons are awesome.

  3. Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha are all good just depends on what it will be used for.
