  3. NOOOOOO! DUUUUHHH!

  4. Your eyes are not part of the brain.  Although like everything else in your body, it is connected to the brain.  Your eyes, like your heart or lungs, is an organ in your body.  It has its own function.  It's a liquid filled tissue placed in the orbit of your skull (eye socket) for protection.  The link to the brain is your optic nerve.  As light and color focuses on the retina, the retina sends this  to your brain via the optic nerve. Which interprets it into an image. That's how we see things.  If the optic nerve or retina gets damaged or compromised, we begin to lose that ability to see.
