  1. All they want is your money.

  2. They really aren't they just want the money.

  3. I don't think there are any fast food places that use the trans fat oil anymore. McDonald's switched a couple of months ago (I work for one). So, yes, they are concerned, BUT, it is not the fast food industry's fault that people are getting fat. It is the fault of the person that sits on their butt and doesn't get up and go for a walk, swim or other exercise. I have worked for McDonald's for 1 1/2 years and have actually LOST 10 pounds. I take my son outside and kick the soccer ball with him, take him for walks, clean my home (That is good exercise).

Slightly Dark Francis : McDonalds already had saladsm garden burgers and other healthy choices BEFORE Super-Size me came out. Of course if someone is going to eat all 3 meals for 30 days and sit on their @ZZ they are going to feel like c**p and gain weight. DUH!! I eat it everday that I work and only feel tired because I am working 4 jobs.

  4. No, not usually. When McDonalds took a hit after 'Super Size Me' was released and generated so much publicity, McDonalds (in Australia at least) felt obliged to introduce a range of healthier options. Had they not done this, the impact on their bottom line would have been substantial.

And THAT is the reason they made changes and additions to their menu. The potential damage to profit.

If anyone tries to tell you that McDonalds acted out of conscience and social responsibility ...you might ask them why their 'conscience' only kicked in after the release of a movie condemning their product.

  5. Of course not.  They are more concerned about making profits and getting more people to eat at their restaurants.  They are constantly looking for ways  to proccess their foods with additives and chemicals to make it taste better and look better.  If they focused on making sure their food was healthier, I would certainly think the taste factor would go down. Think, would a nonfat no salt , no sugar , no fat, all natural tofu burger and fries taste better than, let's say, a juicy tender burger and crisp fries?

  6. They respond to the market. Yes, they do what they do as it affects their bottom line. Ie: if consumer tastes and desires change, they will change their menu. Why would expect them to do anything else? The person that should be monitoring them is you. Make healthy choices, assume that fast food is bad, and don't worry about it otherwise. Who cares if they have trans fat or other c**p in their foods? The bigger question is, why do you expect them not to? Fast food meals, or any restaurant meal for that matter, is not and never should be looked at as part of a healthy diet on a regular basis. It is a treat, a rare, few times a month at most, treat. That's it.
