Are female cats supposed to spray?

because mine totally does. she actually just did. i know shes female because she had kittens a few years ago and as far as i know only males spray...its so gross!

Female cats do spray, trust me the females that spray do a much better job than the boys.

Spaying sometimes helps to eliminate the problem.

A long long time ago I had a cat that sprayed even tho she was fixed.

A nasty habit for sure :(

My females that are in estrus, sometime spray.  They are marking their territory hoping for a boyfriend

Females can spray but she probably wouldn't if she were spayed.

This is a good question. I also have a female cat that sprays and like you thought only males did it. I guess we were both wrong.

Most do not, but it is not unheard of.  Neutering sometimes stops the spraying, but not always.

Spayed cats usually spray in response to illness or feeling that their territory is threatened. It's best to have the vet check her over in case she's suffering from a bladder or urinary infection.

Actually female cats spray WAY more than males usually. If you actually SPAY you're girl she will stop. (usually) My two she-cats did.
