  1. Yeah, it would be discrimination not to.

  2. I was surprised myself on my first day of work. I work for fedex and about 10% of the packages are heavy boxes, My station has almost 10,000 packages a day and there are a few women unloading trucks. Sometimes you will need some help but only if very heavy. They might have someone there to help, I believe it's a two man/women job, I think.

  3. Yes, I saw one taking luggage off of the airplane I was on for Alaska  Air last month.

  4. I happen to be a female rampee!  I'm going in to be a pilot and it's the best way to pay your dues and get involved in the industry.  And you gain alot of aviation experience!! And there are indeed other females working on the ramp as well... believe it or not i'm not the only one! :)

  5. It would be illegal to refuse to hire someone on the basis of their gender.  But I suppose the airline could say "we don't think you would be capable of dealing with the heavy lifting" or something like that.

I imagine there are female luggage handlers.  I don't see why not.

  6. They are at Colgan Air.
