  1. Some feminists are probably upset.  Others probably are not.  There is more to feminism than just thinking women should always win.  Mostly, feminism is about all people, irrespective of gender, being equally empowered to pursue their lives.  Practically, this often means that feminists think women should get equal pay for equal work, that both men and women should have equal choices about careers (or staying at home with the kids), etc.

Of course, some feminists are probably upset.  They are people, after all - and I don't think anyone can speak for all of them.

  2. Nope. I was rooting for Obama from the beginning. I like Hillary but the right-wing attack machine has so much dirt on her that it would render her unelectable to the presidency.

And I've got a soft spot for Biden. I just hope he doesn't suffer to much foot-in-mouth disease.

  3. No, I was for Obama-Biden from the beginning. I think Hillary will get a cabinet position, though, possibly HHS.

  4. I didn't support Biden, but I didn't support Clinton either.

  5. I am not involved in U.S. politics.  But, if anybody was laying a bet on the Democratic nominee a year ago, I would have taken 1 to 3 odds, Clinton.   She had the media behind her full tilt.   I call it the best choke job since the Russians lost to the 1980 Olympic hockey gold medal game.

  6. I'm not. But Hillary wasn't my candidate for reasons that had nothing to do with gender.

  7. A: Can we not use "BO" as his nickname?  It's kinda offensive.

B: How do you figure that feminists were rooting for Hillary?  Do you really think that feminists would choose a candidate solely based on their gender?  How stupid is that?  I guess if Anne Coulter ran for president, I, a liberal, should vote for her, right?  Please.

  8. Not at all - I don't believe her gender had anything to do with why she didn't win!

  9. I am. I thought she was the more experienced and competent candidate. However, I am completely behind Barack Obama and am not angry that he did not choose her for VP. If Joe Biden was the colleague he would work best with, fine.

Hillary shouldn't give up though. She is an excellent politician and an amazing speaker. She has inspired many girls around the globe to pursue their careers and aim for the best.

  10. the clinton minions are.

  11. I'm not upset she didn't win the nomination, but I do think she would have been a better choice for a running mate.

My thoughts: I think he tried to avoid bowing to public pressure by.....bowing to public pressure.  All through the campaign trail he's been confident in his own stance and ideas for foreign relations and I think picking Biden to beef up this area shows a lacking confidence.  Also I think Biden is much less of a household name and as silly as it might be, Hillary brings star power to a ticket.  I also think her politics are much closer to Obama's than Biden's are in many areas, and with the voter turnout during the primaries, an obama-clinton ticket would have won by a landslide.  I think it'll be a much closer race now, I wasn't worried before, but to be honest after his VP pick, I'm starting to get worried about his chances of winning.

My biggest beef with Biden, and with Hillary for that matter is support of NAFTA.  Obama's the only candiate in 15 years to focus on US manufacturing as a means of stiumlating the economy and creating jobs, he's caught h**l for wanting to change NAFTA and then goes and picks someone who supports it? My feeling is if your going to be a hypocrite and pick someone to appeal to the public, then go with someone who generates more votes, that being Hillary of course.

    Just my two cents

  12. I'm a Republican, so I didn't care either way. Go McCain!

  13. I can't believe many feminists are upset that Obama did not pick Clinton.  First off, although many people wanted to see that ticket, it never would have worked.  Joe Biden is a brilliant pick.  He appeals to the groups that Barack Obama has a little difficulty with.  That is to say middle class "ham and cheese sandwhich" democrats and women.  As author of the Violence Against Women act during the 1990s, Biden clearly demonstates a deep passion for women's issues and those problems that plague all sectors of American society.
