  1. Yes, they are very distructive and curiouse. If your home isnt baby proof or you dont have enough time for them ferrits can be a nightmare. If you dont mind a little distruction and you are home quite a bit then a ferrit is a good idea. Just imagine a bunny and hampster mixed in one, so theres alot of chewing and stuff also if you leave doors closed and they want to go in they will chew a hole inder the door to get in! I would start with something else a little less time consuming.

  2. Ferrets are awesome pets!  They are very curious and can squeeze into tight places though.  But I have one and he's very playful.  And he doesn't seem to mind my Jack Russell terrier.

  3. Do research before getting one.

They are escape artists - mine can fit through a hole only two fingers wide. As long as they have a safe enviroment and cage (big one) and get plenty of time out to play with you they are great

Just remember that they are carnivores, they can smell a bit, they cannot handle heat!

  4. they wouldnt be the easiest pets to care for. they ca be very destructive and also sometimes quite aggressive. if you have any other small animals ont let them near eachother as the ferret will attack it. this also applies to other ferrets - they will get verry aggressve with eachother so dont get your hand in there!

they also need a very varied diet consisting of meat, veg and carbs and some store-bought pellets - this can be time consuming and expensive. there is also a lot of foods they cannot eat that are poisonous to them. not sure what these are but its worth looking into if you want one.

  5. I have had two ferrets for two years and they are wonderful pets. They are not destructive , just curious about every thing. I have never had them to chew any thing,. mostly they like to stash shoes, their food and little things under the couch, I don't think they have ever did any damage to any thing.  They are a joy to watch, they are like playful kittens that never out grow being babies. Wish I had of had ferrets as pets many years ago.  just be sure when you go to buy a ferret, check to see if they  are not deaf.

Ferrets with the white stripe on the top of their heads tend to be deaf both of mine are deaf.Doesn't phase them at all.  All you have to do is make a noise over the cage they are in and you will know which ones can hear and the ones that can't.If they hear you they will try to jump up to you. Ferrets are not biters either, mine have never tried to bite any one. They are sweet pets to have.  They are easy to own. i would own more if I could , love them a lot.
