Are figure skating tights for females only?

as a ballet dancer i usually wear tights to dance i did not know if i needed them to figure skate in

Thought I might add my information.

I recently attended and Australian ice skating competition and found out the 'dress' rules.  Girls wear a a dress and tights. The guys were not allowed to wear tights in competition.

They wore a sort of jazz ballet dance pants.

I believe that there are different things for guys.  There are pants made specifically for guys for skating.  As for what you wear on your feet in your skates, I'm not really sure.  Usually it's better to wear something thin on your feet in your skates.  A thick sock may cause friction and then blisters.  Plus a thick sock isn't always going to keep you warmer than a tight.  But if you already have some, it can't hurt to wear them under pants for skating.  I do!  :)

well most guys wear black pants for practice, black tights for competition.

But judges dont allow tights for male ice dancers, they must wear pants.

But if you are a begginer, I would probably just go with some aero-dynamic pants. Once you improve, tights are nescessary. My coach, Alexei, was required to wear them!

it's realy depend on the. ,person i guest you wear !?What you want and what make you   feel comfortable our friend Rig wear his tights each time he goes figure skating people stare at him and he just smile and goes about his bussines we all love him for that he is just  an original and the rest of his  buddies does the same thing to. !?what a ball. take care.

Tights are meant for girls. I don't think I've ever seen a guy wearing tights, although I'm sure somebody has, and I'm also sure that it didn't look right at all!

I also dance ballet, and wear tights for that, but I wear skirts and dresses and all other girls clothing most of the time so I think that tights should be for everyone, they are so awesome.  I love the feel of going out wearing a jumper dress, sweater, and opaque tights with ballet flats, it is So Awsome.

You can use either men's skating pants or look for dance pants (usually black jazz pants)  Competition is quite different as there are requirements.

figure skater usually wear tights if they are girls cuz they wear them underneath dresses but guys idk.Usually guys wear pants when they skate. but i actually would recommend that you put them underneath the skating pants because if you fall and your pants get like a hole in them it would be ok cuz you have tights underneath and also it would be cold if you fall or have a big whole in your pants.
