Are filipinos asian or pacific islanders?

stupid question.i know,i know.but oh my freakin gosh. i need to know! this one chinese girl at my school always says that filipinos aren't asian and that they are pacific islanders. i say the complete opposite.who's right?

and if i am right what can i say to her to shut her up?
