  1. Not good for newborns to be "nuzzling" around flea collars!  Besides, they don't do any good, anyway.  The fleas just go to the other "end" of the cat, and the collar doesn't work that far away!  The kittens biting / l*****g the collar would get more of the poison than the cat.  So, don't put one on her!

Call your vet and ask about a flea preventative that is ok to be used around nursing kittens.  That's the best thing you could do.

    Good luck...........

  2. Flea collars in general are harmful, so I wouldn't trust them near kittens. To be honest, I would contact your vet for safer options to control the fleas.

  3. The only thing that is both safe and effective is to treat mom with a vet-prescribed flea killer such as Advantage or Frontline.  If she's got a serious flea infestation, get some Capstar from the vet along with the topical.  That is an immediate kill of all the live fleas until the topical can kick in.  Nothing is safe to use on the kittens until they are about 8 weeks old, and many of the flea remedies can't be used on kittens less than 12 weeks old.  To help control the fleas, change the bedding daily, and wash it in hot water preferably with some bleach.  Fleas can suck the life out of kittens, so it's important to get the flea control on mom.

  4. FIRST OF ALL flea collars are NOT harmful to fleas!!!

You need to get something like frontline or another topical treatment for fleas... THAT IS OK FOR THE KITTENS... call the vet.

Here is another way to get rid of fleas.

IF YOUR HOUSE/ cat HAS FLEAS….

I have a NATURAL remedy for getting rid of fleas in your house.

Go to the Store and buy some 20 Mule Team BORAX.

Then sprinkle it all over. Carpets, couch, bedding, pillows, pet beds, car, even wood floors. (NOT ON YOUR PET!)

    THEN VACCUME IT UP.

What Boax does is coats the eggs ... The eggs hatch deformed or unable to reproduce.

You will have to do this 2 or 3x about a week apart in order to get all the egg cycles.

FOR YOUR PET. Use the flea killer that is on the market or use a flea comb (this is also a head lice comb) especially for kittens or puppys who are too young to have insecticide put on them.

Kill the fleas that you find on the comb with soap or alcohol

  5. i would assume it is harmful since it's basically poison, you should try using flea powders or something like frontline or advantage.

  6. Yes I do believe that it could harm the animal.
