Are ford escapes sold in england?

I am looking for a 2008 ford escape but cannot find one anywhere. Any ideas where to find one? or if not any suggestion for some nice suv's in England?

There's no ford escapes in UK and EU - they're called Ford Maverick.

"From 2001 to 2004 the Ford Escape was sold in Europe under the Maverick name, and replaced a rebadged version of the Nissan Mistral/Terrano II. Only two versions were made, the 2.0 L Zetec inline 4 engine with manual transmission and 3.0 L Duratec V6 with automatic transmission, both using gasoline as fuel. You can get it from ebay, autotrader.co.uk, gumtree.co.uk or local used cars dealers. Depending on the area where you want to get it you will have different availability.

There's one problem with 4x4 cars - insurance is veeery expensive for them, especially if you are under 25yo. The cars are much cheaper than in the other parts of europe.

If you want to go for other SUVs there's quite a big range to choose from. Depending what you looking for (size, engine, safety, age, reliablility, price, maintenance cost, etc) you can go from Mitsubishi Shogun (Pajero) and Land Rover Freelander to Lexus RX300/400h or Toyota RAV4. I cannot tell which one to go for atm, either used or new one. However I've heard that new Nissan Quashqai sound good (7 seats if u neeed it).

If you don't have to go for SUV and you still need a big car i would go for some estate or minivan - you will feel the difference on road tax, insurance premium, fuel consumption. For the new car mid-range I would go for Citroen c4 picasso (either 5 or 7 seater) or ford mondeo or honda accord. Used ones I would go for volvo v70 (no matter which year, even the oldest 11yo models are perfect and extremely reliable) or bmw series 5. They wont cost much more than cars the same age with poorer specs and build quality and reliablility is great. Its luxury car for much less money than a new one.
