  1. There is no "good alternative" to snowboarding. All other board-sports are different.  I'm sure that the freeboard can offer some development to balance and so on, but it cannot possibly replace the feeling of sliding on snow.  Have fun with it!

  2. Not as well as snowboards.

  3. i have a freeboard, and nothing can replace the smooth feeling of gliding through that fresh line of powder. with a freeboard, you will feel the pavement, and all the grooves in the street. but compared to the other alternatives (long board, regular skateboard, the "wave") that is the best. You use the same muscles and its a good way to keep your leg strength up. I live in Arizona so i dont have a chance to snowboard that much as well, so I know where you are coming from. the one problem with freeboards, is you have to keep my oiled. mine wouldnt switch to toeside for the longest time then i finally just oiled it. also, you need a hill. you cant push yourself like your on a skateboard (i leanred this the hard way =]) If you live near or on a hill, then go for it. They are somewhat expensive, but i would rather spend the money then die of boredom! If you do not live near a hill, then you would not be able to use it as much. but as somewhat of an alternative, its the best out there. but remember you will have to learn to use that just like you had to learn to snowboard. you cant just jump on it and go like a snowboard, the edging is slightly different, but once you get the hang of it, its sweet!
