Are fresh picked jalapenos really?

If i don't pickle(in a jar) the jalapenos are they too hot to eat just raw?

  1. I've never eaten a pickled jalapeno.  I also chop them, raw, in my salsa, or slice them to put on hamburgers, etc.  Just don't eat the seeds!  However, right now, you can't buy them in most grocery stores because of the salmonella scare.  So, get them jarred.


  2. It really depends on your tolerance for hot foods. I. personally, don't like the taste of pickled jalapenos. I like the fresh ones much better, but I prefer them cooked rather than raw. If you're used to hot foods it shouldn't be a problem if you want to eat them raw, they're not amongst the hottest peppers.

  3. Fresh jalapenos are a little hotter than pickled, but not like unbearable.  I'd say that fresh jalapenos are about 10% to 20% hotter than pickled jalapenos.
