Question:

Are fruit sticks a South African thing?

I took some fruit sticks to work, and a dried, rolled mango! The limeys had never seen them before but they went down well. Is this a particularly SA thing? I must admit I have only seen them for sale in the SA shop.... my lifeline here in London....! LOL!!!

  2. Ive seen fruit sticks before, meat sticks (bill tong is it ?) is defiantly a south African thing!!!

  3. It is also popular in the Middle Eastern and North African cultures. I have seen Safari dried fruit in the markets here. It must be popular in California too, because I buy a lot of the imported dried fruit from there as well.

  5. Yes the same as biltong(dried meat) it was mostly for preservation,But the kakies (British soldiers in the Anglo bore war ) also had a sort of dried fruit ,I remember my mom use to make dried fruit rolls and it kept long

  7. Not sure but h**l you can't beat an Apricot Roll - we should get our kids to eat more of those instead of chocolates - I have enjoyed them my whole life!!!
