Are gametophytes haploid or a diploid?

I need to know whether gametophytes are haploids or diploids , also what structure they produce (which i think is a zygote) and by what proccess...choices are: through meiosis,mitosis, or fertilization.

  2. Gameteophytes are haploid.They are formed by meiosis. When they combine with the sperm or egg, they form a zygote ,or fertilized egg,  then  the new product is diploid. The process is fertilization.
