  1. you need help

  2. if you are a duck or a chicken, they can be a favorite treat  :)

  3. Some amusing answers already.  Here's the problem.  Not everyone loves slugs, either in the garden or on the plate.  If someone in your 'hood has put out slug bait - especially if it contains metaldehyde, a common slug and snail killer, your escargot could have really unpleasant results.  The product is very toxic to mammals - dogs, cats and even gastronomes like you.

Don't do it - not worth the risk under any circumstances!

  4. birds love them, so I guess they are

  5. Many slugs and snails are edible, but that is a relative term...

Unfortunately they can harbor some nasty parasites, such as liver fluke- a nematode that can harm your liver.

If you are set on trying them, keep them in a container in a cool, moist, shady area and feed them a diet of cornmeal for 3+ days to clean out their gut. Make sure they have access to water. Cook thoroughly, preferably with butter and garlic.

Do not try this with banana slugs, just common garden snails and slugs.

I would imagine they are... but I wouldn't advise you to eat 'em.
