I have short nails now that I had acrylics put on about two years ago. I think it is because i pulled them off instead of soaking them. But Im the type of person who needs long nails or I dont feel right. I was just wondering if gel nails are a lot better then acrylics and why.

  1. not really they say they are harder but i dont like them i get acrylic

  2. i prefer gel, they are harder wearing as they are softer, much less likely to crack

  3. from personal experiance acrylic last longer than gel because there is a less chance of the getting chipped.acrlyic is a little harder than gel making it harder to take off which requires proper care and may also rip the nail.

if you want to make your money stretch with less maintence get acylic for a nice look that  may take a bit up keep get GEL.

  4. hey im the exact same way!

if i break my nails or i cut them, i make my mom take me to get a manicure :D

    but yes, gel nails

    -last longer

    -feel better to the touch

    -look very beautiful

trust me i got my nails done (gel nails) at the begining of july and they are barely coming off!

    hope this helped!

  5. Neither are 'better' as they both deprive your nails of oxygen. I love having long nails too, and it always takes forever to grow them, but I just prefer acrylicss (probablybecausee I love the smell). It's just a personal choice thing.

  6. Not really..They're both just as damaging as each other, Any type of Nail or Monomer/powder type made nail is damaging equally.

  7. no, a lot of nail people say they are better for your nails but they aren't

also if you live in a humid climate, they come off much easier

  8. Get uv gel nails by a qualified technicial who is really good at doing them and they will last you a long time! I was getting acrylic nails ffor months and they drove me crazy! The edges near the cuticles would lift within days to a week so I needed them filled all the time.

Even if you only need them for three weeks.. they are great. You cannot soak them off in acetone so just buff them all the way down to your real nail when you don't want them any more and let them grow out. This will do less damage than acetone.

I love gel nails. I can get them filled anywhere from two weeks to four weeks and they NEVER lift. They look natural and also stay shiny and look brand new all the time. I get the highest compliments all the time even when I think they need to be redone.

Just be sure to get real uv gel nails where they apply the liquid gel in stages and set under a uv light for each layer and NOT what they call powder gel nails where it is a powder and liquid mix.. Those are not the same at all.. They look and feel like acrylic and smell bad. Real gel nails have no smell and are better for your nails than acrylic because you don't need to get them filled as often so there is hardly and fiing necessary at each visit. As long as you keep up with th monthly maintenance, you will love them!!!

They look amazing.. google images under uv gel nails. My tech uses IBD gel products and I will never use acrylic ones ever again. These gels feel like my own natural nails. They are light and the only issue I have had is that one layer of gel peeled up but was easy and painless for my tech to fix.

Also I have pink gel nails with the tip airbrused under the top layer of gel. They look way better than any pink and white acrylics I had ever have.

The set will cost more initially but you will be happy.. I am because I spend less money to get them filled since I only have to go in once a month instead of a bi weekly to weekly visit to get my acrylics filled.

    Hope this helped!

    Good Luck!
