Are genious born or made ?

Question

I dont thing geniouses are born .... but through time they change and do something that makes them a genious .

I mean ordinary human beings can come up with such ideas which are out of other peoples imagination and thus these people are considered geniouses..

For eg...Albert Einstein was an ordinary person with same characteristics as you... but he used his thinking ability in such a way to come up with an idea which was outside the imagination of ordinary people like YOU

There are different types of genius, take for example savants --  people who excel in one area  (such as music, maths, art, etc...)but are severely disabled in all others, that is a type of born genius, often a congenital brain defect.

Then there are people who are normal at birth and through childhood they develop knowledge and skills and as adults are exceptionally intelligent. I guess that depends on your upbringing - i.e. a child who is grade 8 on piano may have really really pushy parents.

There have been many documents made on talented children and autistic genius'. Try looking on google videos.

I definitely think they are born but they have to then be raised in the right environment to reach full potential.

Its both. Some people have a good IQ by birth may be because of the genes. But its mostly the surroundings in which these people are brought up that makes them a genius. Einstein is a good example. Some children question everything and some children just accept things. Einstein was the former kind. I have read his biography, Idont remember exactly why but Einstein questioned everything, and only accepted things that he thought were correct. So, the more u use your brain the better it becomes like any muscle.

Even a Genius needs to hone their skills or it'll be wasted

Another is that the difference from a Genius to an Ordinary person is the same like a smart one to a smarter one.

-Means the Lesser time a person needs to learn. (Einstein was one of them)

Well I agree that it is a mixture of Nature and Nurture but I think Einstein's case is an exception I think he was was born with a enlarged brain capacity to enable him to think so vastly. That is something beond experiences. However for everyone else I think you are born with some genetic capabilites and you can build upon these or build new skills by learning experiences

till some time ago, people used to think that geniuses can be moulded through their environment and family atmosphere. but recent researches imply that all our actions are controlled by some particular genes, whose presence or absence can determine certain traits in persons. whether they can take risks, whether they can be good at maths, whether they are romantically inclined etc.. so, we can conclude that some genetic traits are in our genes, but a majority of traits can be developed too, upto a certain extent. (i guess this is what they mean when they say that everything is pre-ordained in life).
