In a broad sense, a gentile refers to anyone who is not a member of the specific religious community being discussed.  However, in our cultural terminology it has come to refer to someone who is not Jewish.

Perhaps by "spiritual Jew" you are thinking of Kabbalah, which is Jewish mysticism?

My understanding is that everyone who is not  Jewish is considered a gentile.

Also I've heard a gentile can become a Jew by choice--but not sure bout that.

Whats wrong with Gentiles? Didn't God say to be nice to Gentiles and include them in the Torah if they wanted to be part of the community. Maybe God told Hebrews to accept everyone ... not be exclusive.

If you're a Jew it would be needless to quote the NT but I will anyway when Paul wrote in the book of Romans that being Jewish is not your birthright but rather your heart being physically changed by God. And that true circumsion was that process that God created in the heart. That God shows no favoritism between Jew and Gentlie.

This isn't an attack on Jews. I'm a neutral person and a neutral party. I'm just stating facts here and how racist that question seemed.

i know exactly what you mean. yes. since the most 2 recognized and practiced religions derived from the Old Testament, it is fair to think, hypothesis and conclude that Muslims and Christians are Jews with just "a few amendments". if you don't agree with me so far then think for a moment if there would be a Muslim faith if it were not for the Jewish faith that preceded it and same goes for the Christian faith? the roots are Jewish. it is bazaar that both religions had tried and /or trying to kill the Jews. in the Quran

sometimes i think Moses should have walked the dessert a little longer. so now that Moses is not around, we should walk a little and think, talk a little and do something about how we are going to get out this shhithole that centuries old hatred

Are you referring to those who claim that the Church has taken the place of Israel since the Jews rejected the Christ?

I disagree, citing passages like Isaiah 42:7 and throughout Isaiah 49 where the Messiah is prophesied to be a light to the Gentiles, and in Luke 21:24 where Jesus predicts the end times coming after the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled.

So, I would say, no, Gentiles are not spiritual Jews. We're given light and salvation through the Jewish Messiah, but God still has a covenant with Israel that is separate and which came long before.
