Are gerbils supposed to be noisy?

My gerbils squeak all the time! I thought they were quiet pets, like hamsters. Literally whenever they're up they run around squeaking, very high pitched squeaking that almost sounds like a bird's chirp. Are they in pain? fighting? or are gerbils more noisy than I thought? It doesn't bother me, I think it's cute, and they look okay and they still sleep in the same nest.

that sounds fine, just make sure that theyre not hurting each other if you see wounds on one of them, separate them

yea, gerbils are more active than hamsters, so they are supposed to be noisy.

they could be fighting not likely there very sociable pets it could just be there excited mabe not sure aslong as non are hurt it dont matter
