  1. I was since day 1, when they first started it. So, I deleted my account. The only thing I like on Yahoo is Yahoo answers.

  2. Don't be connected to MSN. If your not, then their is someone spamming your account that isn't a real person. What kind of spam is it? Block the user from connecting to your account if its the same name.

  3. Spam happens in Y/A. Spam happens on 360. It's a part of Internet life. Deleting an account is the last resort and usually if you keep on top of things, it's not a big issue.

    1) The first thing you should do is report the spammer.

Click on the avatar (or name) associated with the message or comment. Copy the web address of the 360 space. Go to the Abuse form at http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/360/for...

    Please provide the following information:

    * Web address of the Yahoo! 360° page

    * What exactly happened. Be specific. Copy & paste the spam message you received.

    * Any information other information on the spammer

While the Y!360 has stopped fixing 360 bugs/glitches, they are handling abuse reports. You have no control over the outcome of your report, but usually they delete spamming 360 accounts fairly quickly.

    2) You have permissions that can prevent access from unknown people, along with other features. Report, then delete all spam received, but you can also do the following:

**** Ignore the person (see http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/360/fri...  for how to use that feature), which prevents them from sending messages, invitations, and IMs to you.

**** Yet ignoring someone doesn't stop them from commenting on the page. However, this is why you have permissions to stop such action.

If the ignored person IS NOT a connected friend, then you will have to change your Top Page and Blog comments from "Public" permissions to "Friends" permissions.

    TOP PAGE:

    - In your "My Page," click on the "Settings" link for the comment module (in lower left corner of the page).

    - In the "Allow comments by:" drop down, set it to "Just Me (Private)."

    - Uncheck the "enable quick comments box" as well. NOTE: Unchecking this prevents everyone from commenting in that permission group. Checking it allows everyone to comment in that permission group. There's no separating into categories here.

    - Click the "Save" button.

    BLOG:

    - Click "Edit Blog Settings" link on your "My Blog" page.

    - Change the permission for "Who can post comments to your blog" to Friends. Click the "Save" button.

You can exclude people from other areas of the 360 space in basically the same way.

EXCEPTION: The "Quick Comments" setting in your Top Page Comments module- you either have to uncheck the setting, thereby disabling it for everyone or you check the setting enabling it for everyone.

    3) Change your overall Communication Settings

    - Click "Edit Contact Settings" under your personal profile picture module on your "My Page"

    - Change the permission regarding "messages" (and/or invitations) to something other than public (or "Everyone in 360").

    - Click the Save button

    4) If somehow the spammer is getting to you via other means besides 360 (like IM, e-mail, etc), see those services' help pages for how to block them. Also, try to avoid displaying  your Yahoo ID (or e-mail address) on public spaces whenever possible.

    5) Close the old 360 space and start a new 360 space. You can just remove everything you added and set everything to "Just Me (Private)". Then, open a 360 space on a new Yahoo ID.

Also, be aware of safe computing practices:

  4. Well, I was about to comment and provide an answer to this question for you, however I think Kee covered it all.

Best of luck in this now and in the future, as spam is a necessary evil in today's entirely electronic global society (if it is advertising) & mischief or worse (depending on intent as in if it is malicious or just illegal).

  5. Probably through your messenger is how they are getting into your account.. I don't have messenger for that reason alone right there!
