  1. There are natural (some explained, some not) mystery lights. For instance the source of the Marfa lights has never been identified though there are many theories.

I think most people agree they are a natural (not due to ghosts) phenomena.

  2. check youtube.com for historys mysterys the ghost light s are one there;....the special I saw couldn't confirm any thing except that they are real and you cant explain it. and that is the planet reminding us how little we really know her and how young we really are!                                  Blessed be................

  3. There us the piezoelectric effect from underground quartz crystals (earthquake lights) . If it isn't refracted light, it is most likely earth related.

  4. Well some are. I have seen one myself and know for a fact it was not car head lights.

I do not believe it is ghosts or really anything paranormal I have heard it could be swamp gas. I don"t know what it is but I know it is real and so far no explanation as to why and this particular light has been seen since the 1800's before electric lights or cars.

  5. Think about it -- lights in the darkness. Is there anything harder to identify, visually speaking? There is no sense of distance and no sense of perspective. The high contrast and black background leave plenty of room for visual deception and imagination to fill in the gaps.

There have been no cases of "ghost lights" that haven't had a natural explanation.

  6. I agree with Malachi.

  7. Going with TR on this one.

This describes the appearance of lights where one presumes there should be none,Geological researchers have speculated that ghost lights may be caused by brush fires, anchored lights, car headlights, and even fireflies. But they cannot explain some of the reported anomalies characteristics such as color (often glowing red or green), random movements, or odd auroras. Others still associate ghost lights with more uncanny causes,The exact cause of ghost lights is not known. Some scientists believe it may be some sort of luminous energy, a product of subterranean process. Although there is a scant supply of theories, there certainly is no shortage of sightings. Some places such as Marfa, Texas (the Marfa Lights) and Magantor, North Carolina (home of the Brown Mountain Lights) receive so many reportings that officials do not even bother recording the incidents. In Texas, the Texas Highway Department set up a roadside park and official observation area for persons seeking to witness the Marfa Lights phenomena.
