  1. Actually they tell you to turn out all the lights, cause most activity happens at night, and in the dark.

No ghosts arn't scared of elecrticity, they actually feed off the energy that the electricity gives off.

  2. of course not. Electricity is a form of energy as is a sprit. I believe that they use electricity to manifests.

  3. Ghosts are not afraid of the light, just the electric bill when you forget to turn it off. ( just kidding) actually, we leave the lights off because the cameras and equipment are infared, if you ever used any of infared equipment then you know that it is usless in bright light. so there is your answer, oh, and the other reason is because turning on the lights creats an noise that is audible on high end sound equipment that is recording above the range of human hearing. it actually hums when the mic gets to close to it.

  4. No they thrive with it. They suck the power from electric devices and also use them to show themselves.

  5. Please disregard Wushuboy001's comment that "ghosts are afraid of light." That's rediculous, and as a parapsychologist and paranormal researcher I find that comment incredibly absurd. Ghosts are not afraid of electricity; in fact, it is one of the sources they use to manifest themselves. Ghosts use the electricity of appliances, people, storms, etc. to be able to manifest in form, move objects, or contact the living (DAY or NIGHT). Demons on the other hand do not use electrical sources, they are their own entities (and again come out DAY or NIGHT). *****Help baby Osiris: visit paranormal-society dot com for fund-raiser information!*****

  6. The answer to this question is not a straight yes or no.  It depends on the type of haunting that is occurring.  If it is a residual haunting then there is a very good possibility that there is a certain time of day that activity will occur, as a residual haunting is like a movie playing.   It is an atmospheric imprint that is often compared to a movie that plays over and over again.

One of my theories about why paranormal phenomena is more prominent in the evening is because people do not use as much electricity as they do during the day and basing this on the theory that ghosts need energy to manifest than there would be excess energy at night since there is less being used by the living.  If this theory were correct then it would be easier for a spirit to manifest resulting in more reports of occurrences during the late evening/early morning hours.

Now back to why paranormal investigators research in the dark.  There are several reasons why we conduct our research in the dark and some have no Scientific reasoning behind them whatsoever.  The most common answer you will be given is to reduce the risk of false positive EMF (Electro Magnetic Field) readings.  It is believed that fluorescent lights can hold energy even if they are turned off so it is best if at all possible to turn the power off at the breaker.

Another reason that we investigate at night is because the majority of paranormal investigators have “day” jobs so this drastically limits investigating during the day.  Some believe that we get paid for what we do but the truth of the matter is that for most it is a hobby not an occupation.

The next reason is one that can have both a positive and a negative side to it.  People are not nocturnal creatures and are more sensitive and alert at night.  Which means that they will notice more at night than during the day.  The negative spin on this is that because of our heightened sense of awareness there is a higher possibility of labeling something as paranormal when it is simply a natural sound of the home.  This is where the debunking really needs to come into play.   Everything needs to be examined fully before saying it is paranormal.  I know that this seems like common sense but this is what I feel really assists in defining professionals in the field.

  7. Wow! My head is still spining after reading those answers. Especially the long one! Some of  them were partially correct, others were Way out in left field...! Of course that's kind'a the norm in this genre. Everybody's got their own pet theories and "experience", such as it is.( And I really noticed TR's answer...doing a 180 there, are ya'???)  The simple reason most Ghost Hunters prefer the dark is based in pure superstition, it is believed Ghosts are associated with the dark. The reasoning behind this is that, historically, most Sightings happen at night. This is a fact, they do. But, the main reason for this is that people at night are not distracted by work, conversations, travel, planning, constant thinking what is  their next move, etc.  At night people tend to be relaxed and forget about the worries and hastles of the day. So, if a Ghost makes itself known, usually in a more or less subtle manner, the person is far more apt to notice it. Night is when people look for them (except for people like me, who looks for them during the day, too!) Ghosts don't sleep. They are Everywhere! Millions of them. Only a very small percentage of these make themselves known at any one time, including during the daytime. For instance, one of the New Orleans Victorian-era homes I'm currently Investigating in the citys' s' lower Garden District is a hot-bed of Activity. A full-bodied apperition of a young woman dressed in 1930's - '40's attire has been seen by at least three of the workmen remodling the huge old brick behemoth (she made eye contact with each one of them). And, each one, individually, identified the same woman from a stack of old photos of prior owners and family shown to them by the new owner. These Sightings happened during the full light of day.  There are untold numbers of photos of day time apparitions! I am a Paranormal Psychologist/Investigator who is available and on call 24 hrs. a day. I Hunt in the day as concentratedly as I do at night. I am Constantly having my equipment batteries drained by Ghosts in the day time as well as at night. And Ghosts, my friend, are afraid of nothing other than evil entities. If not afraid, then they simply stay away from them. I've got some day shots, if you'd like to check them out: <>http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ghosthunte...

  8. I do turn on the lights

I think that they are attracted electricity and magnetic fields.

I use power strips for everything in my apartment and turn them off when I am not using that area so that there is less electricity around to attract them (and to save on my power bill).

    it seems to work.

  9. I don't think ghosts fear electricity, They often radiate EMF and they sometimes seem to draw electrical energy from our cameras, flashlights and other electronic equipment.

Perhaps the reason most paranormal investigation is done at night is because there are fewer sights and sounds to distract us. Our senses are more acute at night.

  10. They are not afraid of electricity, but they are afraid of light.

Demons aka shadow men need shadows and dark to be completely hidden. The flash of a camera will take them by surprise, and you will get them that way.

Plus its just spookier to look for ghosts in the dark.

For most practical purposes, you are right. I would never investigate a house in the dark, aside from the fact that you might get hurt, most photos or video you take would be questionable.

  11. Actually they are not afraid of electricity, but surprisingly, they are afraid of Cheese Danishes.

  12. smoke a gram of good salvia, it's legal. Don't let grab ya, use urine..

  13. any aplience even light bolbs give off EMF's (electro magnetic feilds) so do goasts and sperits so by turning off all non eseshal equipment you rule out those sorces when useing a emf meter

  14. Nah, ghosts love electricity. They suck the electricity out of battery packs so that cameras suddenly go dead when ghosts appear, thus preventing any evidence from being gathered! They are very sneaky.

  15. They are terrified of it. Also, they are scared to death of spiders and large dogs...

  16. it always in the dark because it is always a fake, so its easier to deceive people if things go on in the dark.

Ghosts do not exist whatahell, didnt your mom ever tell you.

by the way the "aka shadow men" made me laugh my *** off hahahahahaha lol.... bewareee of the shadow men!! wtf....

  17. no because I have known my fiance in  the spirit world to use electricity to communicate, such as flashing lightbulbs, turning the volume up on the t.v. and turning off or changing radio in car

  18. Lights cast shawdows in video and pictures.  Also the less emf interference you have the better your chances of getting better readings.  An emf meter measures the electronic field in the area.  The less light generated or less power used the more accurate the readings are apt to be.  Most video that you see these days on shows and with paranormal investigators do have all the lights off and they use cameras with infared.  You are able to see the infared ob film but if you were standing in the room it would be pitch black.
