A friend has a pet goat that has been accused of dining in someones garden at night. We were told that goats are not nocturnal because they are blind at night. Is this true?

Thank you.

  1. Not true they can see as well as a deer.  All they need is a little moon light and a midnight snack is great with them.

  2. I own goats, and once the sun goes down, and its getting dark goats go to sleep. Safe in there houses.

  3. Goats are not blind at night but they do not usually go out and forage at night.  They know that they are vulnerable to predators when it's dark, so they usually bed down in a safe place and stay put until morning.  I doubt if it's the goats getting into the garden overnight, however the goat also should be contained in a pen when no one is watching it to prevent accusations such as this.
