Will it do anything? I know they wont let me leave until I assure them I wont kill myself

But other then load me up with some drugs will it actually do anything?

  1. Along with Nurse Jacqui... so what have you got to lose? You're in a hurry? What's a little more time to give it a try?

Look at it this way... if you go to the hospital and it helps, then hey... it helped. If you go and it doesn't help, then you're just where you are now... so no loss. But if you don't let them try, then you'll never know.

Medication can help people with mental health problems, just as much as other medications can help with physical health problems. And therapists can help in many ways that meds can't.

  2. My father was in and out of the mental hospital for several years when I was a child.  Like me, he had Borderline Personality Disorder but he also had Bipolar disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder on top on of it.  I can truly say that the mental hospital did WONDERS for him and he's actually a new person now.

Also, I was depressed and suicidal for twenty years and medication and therapy saved my life and I'm quite happy now.  It took awhile to get used to it, but I'm so glad I am better now!!!!

  3. when i went to a mental hospital, i realized that i was pretty d**n lucky compared to other kids.

    I used to be suicidal.

  4. Checking into a mental hospital is not something that one does casually; it is not a resort. It can be painful-both mentaly and physically...I suggest that you think about it before you commit yourself.(btw If you are hospitalised it will go on your medical record..and if your employer finds out...)

  5. Not only can they give you meds that will actually help your symptoms, but they can provide you with a therapist to talk to about the stressors in your life. You'll likely be involved in group therapy where you can talk about what is going on. You'll learn new coping skills and ways to deal with the depression (and anxiety). They will also point you towards community resources upon discharge.

Isn't your life worth giving it a try?

  6. If they were pointless, would there be thousands of doctors and nurses dedicated to the profession?  Would there be thousands of people who have received help from these institutions?  Would there be billions of dollars poured into research annually?

Of course not.  Now, of course, not every location, person, drug, etc. is perfect, but they will help.

If you are here asking this question, it indicates that you want to live, and you SHOULD!  These places are a lot more friendly and caring than the general public realizes, these people do what they do because they want to help YOU!

Suicide is not the answer, life is.  Even a short time in such an institution can change your life, save your life, and put you on the path to a lifetime with a lot of happiness!

These people are professionals in a billion dollar industry for a reason.  There is more science and study and research than you or I will ever realize.  Take advantage of it now!
