Question:

Are golf clubs affected when the paints chips off of them?

I've got a 4 hybrid and a 5 hybrid and the paint's almost completely chipped off of them. Does this affect the performance of the clubs? My 3 wood is getting pretty bad too.

The paint didn't just chip off my itself. I don't have covers for my hybrids (though I was using a pair of fuzzy sock but they got holes in them quickly and became useless) so they bang against my other clubs when I'm walking which in turn chips the paint. I just want to know if that will affect the performance of the club and is it possible to get them repainted? or should I just get new clubs and make sure to have club covers for them?

Okay here are some pictures of the club

They came in a 400 dollar set. The brand is Paragon HS400 Series. And these are just the hybrids. My 3 wood is really just nicked a few places.

  1. The paint is just for looks. It does not affect the playability at all. Don't get new ones unless you want them. If you hit well with the ones you have now, by all means keep them!

  2. get new clubs

  3. You're probably going to want to get new hybrids to replace those ones, they're pretty much useless.  Also, I can understand why the paint chips would be a problem.  I would not want my Titleist 585H hybrids to have their paint chipped off.  If I were you, I would go to my local golf store and check out Cleveland golf HALO hybrids.  They're down to 89.99 a peice and are really easy to hit.  They should come in the two that you need to replace your old ones.

    Hope this helps.

  4. i wouldnt worry about them as long as there isnt any dings (dents or chips) in the metal itseld and as long as the groves on the face are still sharp and in good shape. Also check the hosel (where the clubhead attaches to the shaft) to make sure its secure and not damaged.

  5. Does the paint actually contribute anything towards the shots you hit with the club?

    Answer = NO!!

    Stop being so proud and just keep hitting the d**n things.
