  1. Yes, hybrids have a unique shape that allows them to get through rough and tall grass easier.  They also don't tend to close down in rough and tall grass as much as an iron would causing the ball to go left.

  2. i say if you can control a steep attack, go with an iron any day. The hybrids tend to bounce off of the grass, and don't dig through like a blade. however, the bigger the club in size, not loft, the harder it will be to get through the grass. there is a breaking point though. Some lies you will be better to just chip out of. others you can swing three wood on. i say that hybrids are better off of the tee to those who struggle with distance control.

  3. I always thought that hybrids were made so it is easier to get out of rough and tall grass. I like to play irons, when i tried using hybrids for a round i had trouble in the rough but from the fairway my shots were straighter and longer. They feel awkward.

  4. I have found that hybrids tend to twist less in the rough than a long iron does.  However in deep rough it is a little harder to "chop down" on a shot with the hybrid vs. an 8 iron or more lofted club.  I carry a 3 and 4 hybrid instead of a 3 or 4 iron.   My 4 hybrid is my "magic club" for me.

  5. YES

Hybrid is good for tall grass or the rought.

I recommend you Cleveland HiBore XLS Hybrid

    It is not bad.

  6. Some of them are but not all hybrids are equally good out of the tall grass and rough.  They would still be better than an iron, especially one of those huge game improvement irons.

The design of the hybrids allows it to cut through the rough with less interference.  With irons the tall grass snatches the hosel and closes the club face.  Hybrids deal with that problem.

I play a Cleveland HiBore XL 3-iron and 4-iron hybrid.  They are good out of the rough.  The new model is called the HiBore XLS hybrid and when I tried it out of the rough, I thought it was less effective.  It just goes to show that there are differences even with hybrids from the same company.

Try the Adams a3 Boxer hybrids.  They are very highly rated and I am thinking of getting one myself to put in the bag beside my Hibore hybrids.

  7. tall grass

  8. No club is good out of tall grass ( heather ). Almost without exception the hosel will be slowed by tall grass  with very few great golf shots. If you noticed at the Open, most players who were in the " junk " had to hack back into the fairway.
