  1. Yes, they are. I've heard that you can set pans directly from the stove or oven onto the granite and it won't harm it. I've never tried it with mine (like setting a pizza pan directly from a 500 degree oven onto it). But, I have set fairly hot things directly on the grranite with no problem.

  4. They claim they are but I just don't trust that a heat won't affect it.  I always put a trivet or oven mitt under any hot pan or dish. I really wouldn't want to replace my counter tops.

  6. Yes - but some granite tops also emit radon in decidedly unhealthy quantities. Radon is the 2nd highest cause of cancer, after smoking. If you have one, get it checked. If you're thinking about buying one, have the material checked before installation.
