Are groceries more expensive in the UK?

Say I were to buy $150 of groceries in the Us would that be 300 pounds in the UK? I hope I don't sound like a r****d, but I'm moving there so I need to know.

  4. no, it would be £75 in the UK, and food is expensive here, as is petrol, cigs, and alcohol, petrol is £4.00 a gallon, which is about $8.00 cigs are roughly £5.00 a pack which is about $10.00, a loaf of decent bread is about $2.00, and four pints of milk is about $2.00 so either bring lots of money or be prepared to diet!!
