Are groups in high school really gangs?

Question

what i mean is like if two groups dont like each other and the leaders get in a fight and everyone gets in a fight trying to protect one another isnt that like a gang?

Yes it is.  You just described what gangs are.  Any type of people.  The law is not discriminating.

lol at my school theres "gangs" but not like to fight its very very rare that 2 gangs will fight lol

not really. a gang is usually (what most people think of. there are different meanings for gang) a group of people who are into bad activities. so just cuz two groups dont like each other doesnt mean they are a gang.

it's LIKE what some gangs do but if it was school groups it was probably just some "clique" problem

but i watched this gang documentary on national geographic and there's kids that are in GANGS that aren't even in 8th grade yet
