  1. The smell really bad if you don't thoroughly clean the cage every day.

    They are noisy.

They don't live very long and it's not fun to go through.

  2. GUINEA PIGS ARE THE BEST!!!!! they are soo cute i have a guinea pig and she talks to me all the time her name is Dexteria. 3. Nope

    There better then hamsters..

well they make these squeaky noises alot.

    but there So Cutee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  4. they are sooo boring. they're like show pieces. My ex g/f has two. all they do is sit in a cage and eat grass or something. Some times they put them outside in the yard but other than that they just sit in the cage. Even when they've taken them out they were just boring little ugly furry pig things. I highly suggest getting a dog or something else. good luck with what ever choice you make.

  5. Guinea pigs make great pets if you know how to take care of them, as with any pet, they are a lot of work.

Please so some research before getting a pig: http://www.guineapigcages.com/

be prepared for an 7-9 year commitment if you get 2

They also like being kept in pairs, if you get a male and a female you have to have the male fixed (yes they need vet care), and pet store cages they sell are not big enough, they need a lot of room to run.

  6. GUINEA PIGS ARE AWESOME! im surprised at some of these answers. they dont just stink and make noise, they smell fine if you clean them once a weeek, and i got used to the smell very, quickly. they are alot of fun to play with and you CAN POTTY TRAIN THEM!!! its called a litter tray look it up!!! people are annoying sorry. Theyre noises are really cute and not annoying at all. there very cuddly and make great freinds. ive had mmine for too years, i take care of her completely on my own and im 13 there not that hard   THERE WORTH IT!!!!! dont lissen to the ppl who say there not, have they ever owned one??

you DONT have to cleen them evry day, but you can (and this is optoinal, cuz i dont) remove heavily soiled bedding once evry one er too days. pleeze get one and just try it out. ive had my guinea pig for too years and she is the best decision ive ever made. plus they do live a while, 8 years. how much longer do you want? just remember be careful with it if you get one, there fragile and need to be held gently, and there nails need to be clipped, but dont worry its not that hard if your piggy isnt scared of you.they are some responsibility, but so is evry other animal. SO PLEASE GET ONE YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!!!!

  7. There are no bad pets.. only bad owners :)

    Read over http://www.guinealynx.info/healthycavy.h... and http://www.guineapigcages.com/

    And adopt http://www.petfinder.com

  8. They aren't terribly social.  I've had a couple. You have to clean the cage frequently. Males stink. They are pretty smart for rodents.  I had one when I couldn't have a dog.  Make sure you pick up a book on taking care of a Guimea pig.

  9. No way! They're perfect and so cute!

  10. They are ugly looking things

  11. I have no idea where you got the impression that guinea pigs are "horrible" pets! Granted, they are a little more involved when it comes to cage-cleaning. They p**p & pee a lot! But as to their smell & sounds, personally, I like both quite a bit! To me, their scent is rich & musky. Their vocalisations are what cinched it for me. Their sounds are so expressive. The inflections sound like they are trying to communicate. One of my guinea pigs, Pansy, converses with me daily. I sure wish I had an guinea pig-to-English dictionary!

If you do decide to get guinea pigs, DO get two, at the very least. They are social animals & do relish company of their own kind. Personally, when it comes to small animal pets, I really LIKE guinea pigs, and would recommend them whole-heartedly. Enjoy your new pet(s)!

  12. my brother has a hamster and it is the best!

it's a great pet to have but it sneacks out of its cage sometimes.

i wouldnt reccomend a guinea pig but a hamster yesssss

  13. no

  14. They make good pets. They are noisy though and you have to clean the cage often or they smell up your room.

  15. I wouldn't exactly say they are horrible pets...but I would say there are other small pets that I personally would prefer over a guinea pig.

I've had guinea pigs before and they were really shy and not sociable.  Plus they made that awful squeaking / yelping noise and scratched me when I tried to hold them.  They also smell and it was a pain to keep their cage clean.

I would recommend a hamster instead.  They're smaller, more sociable, cuter, and easier to care for.  You can find really cool cages for them that have tunnels for them to play in, little wheels, all kinds of food treats, etc. plus they don't smell and make that squeaking noise all the time.

  16. The good thing about guinea pigs if it doesnt work out they are very tasty.

  17. Just remember one thing.  Is not the pets that make horrible pets; is the people that think animals should please their master in everything they do.  Do some research about this animals life and way of living so you have an idea if you can adjust to have an animal like that.

  18. all tehy do all day is sit in cage or tank.. and make noise and stink up your house.. and when you dont have them locked up you cant potty train them... helll no i wouldnt want one

  19. I think the reason most people think they make bad pets is because they tend to be loud. If you get it, I wouldn't keep it in your room at night. They make noises in the night.

  20. They're a long ways off from dogs or cats, that's for sure. If you're okay wiith pet birds, mice, fish, or animals that aren't very social around people, a guinea pig will suit you just fine.

  21. Well, every animal has a different personality, guinea pigs are nice in general, but nothing will make a good pet if you do not take care of it properly. Ask yourself these questions:

1.Will I give it at least 14 minutes of my undivided attention every day?

2.Will I change its food and water every day?

3.Will I treat it properly and give it a good home?

4.Can I afford to take proper care of it?

5.Do I have the time to give my pet what it needs?

6.And last but not least, can I see myself with this pet for a long time?

  22. they're cute but i wouldnt say they horrible though they do smell a lil if u dont keeep them clean and they run away fast to

  23. it depends. if there are young children, allergies with people, and if you have good space and time. i wouldn't say they are bad pets. get one, get a black one. :]

  24. They are messy and cage needs to be changed often but cute and lovable.  They eat guinea pig food, alfalfa bales, cilantro.  They will squeak when happy to see you and whistle.  In South America (I believe), they eat these animals as they live in the wild.

  25. they are perfect pets

  26. They kinda smell, so you have to change the cage a lot. And bathe them.

Other then that, they are fine.

  27. get birds.  They are cool.  I have two parrots and they are really nice and fly around.

  28. You can't play with them or anything. All they do is sit, eat, and p**p-ALOT. My sister got one for her birthday but she hates taking care of it now because she has to clean out her cage like every week. The cage gets smelly and dirty. She is scared of us and bites us if we try to pick her up. So, all in all, DONT get a guinea pig, especially if you want a pet to play with. Dogs are better pets, and even though they're more work, they give you unconditional love and loyalty and are well worth it. Hope I helped! Good luck!

  29. I would strongly say yes to the guinea pig, and i would recommend buying 2. Unlike hamsters they are active during the day and very tolerant and will never bite you. They are great to watch and bring hours of entertainment plus there very cuddly and affectionate. They are just great animals to own.

  30. They are great pets I had one and it sits on your lap for hours...Its really cute but some grow pretty big so um...think about it...there are even ones that don't have fur, but people don't really like them. Anyway I think they are great pets, when I had mine it always made that oink noise when I walked into the room, it liked being outside...

And they don't smell if you clean them properly so don't believe the people who said that!!!!

  31. They're boring.  They don't do anything but smell bad so basically you're buying an extra living thing to just stare at every once in a while and clean up after.
