I bought my son 2 guinea pigs. They are both male. One is perfect, the other one won't shut up. It screams whenever it sees someone, and its hungry all the time. It literally screams and never seems happy. Could it be sick or are they all like this????

  1. yes. that is their way of communicating.

maybe they want something like attention, food or drink. have fun!

  2. LOL yes some are like this. it probably wants attention in some way (either food like you said or treat...played with) but i know that noise is very annoying!

  3. Guinea pigs dont scream all the time, they only do it when there is something wrong:-

The other pig could be a bully and bite the screaming pig, the dominant pig could also not allow the other pig to eat or drink - this is a common problem and the other pig will quickly become dehydrated & could starve.

Place two (2) water bottles in the cage, one at either end so the bully cant 'hog' both of them, also place two feed bowls in different places, as far apart as you are able.

Try dividing the cage into two parts, some pigs do not like to share and are happier when they can interact with a divider inbetween them.

  4. theyre all like that. they scream when hungry.. :)
