Smarter no.  But each one are better than the other at certain things.  Like men have a tendency to be better at science and math and women tend to be better academically at english and foreign language.

But there is a lot of research and disput for both sides.

I don't think so, I think we're equivalent but emotiong get in the way of girls' intelligences and horniness gets in the way of males' intelligences.

A Harvad Dean, I think the president, came out and said something to the effect that Men's Brains are more apt to be able to perform science and mathmatics and engineering tasks than woman. A statement backed up by sound science, subsequently he was still asked to resign for pointing out obvious differences between men and women.

The worst scale you could use is grades.  School grades tell us two things.  How willing you are to do what you're told and believe whatever your teachers say because they are authority figures and how good you are at regurgitating what you've read and heard.  Math and science are the only two that you can't simply regurgitate what you've been told/read.  You have to understand the material to pass a proper test.

We already know that women are better at doing what they're told, it's natural to them.  If you teach her how to do something, she'll probably be able to do it just fine.  

But, when it comes to figuring out how to do things on your own, that's a man trait.  As well as being able to learn how to do things.

Which of these is smarter?  Since there's no real thermometer for that, I'll let you decide.

Statements about men having better brains (for science, math, etc.) aren't based on science.  There are much more direct explanations, such as the fact that males are encouraged in those subjects more, people expect more of them and even the fact that teachers spend more time working with them on it - that is borne out by research - even teachers who don't think they're doing it, do it.

Now, even with that, girl's math and science grades are just as good as boys.  The real question is why don't girls go into those fields as much?  How many woman engineers do you know?  Used to me, almost none.  But now more and more women are going into math and science and being successful at it.  It seems that overcoming societal expectations and nurturing have more to do with it.

Even if there are differences between male and female brains, they haven't and can't be proven until boys and girls get equal educations with equal expectations.  Let's work on that first, and then we'll see how far women lag behind.

At the same time, girls in school virtually always have greater verbal skills than boys, but that doesn't mean men never become good writers.
