  1. No, they are not as sturdy.  The bottom half is held together by a sort of fishing line through a groove.  It is still strong, but more than likely not as strong as a full framed set.

  2. no they are not. even my optometrist told me they werent

  3. they arent as strong and wouldnt be recomended for builders etc! but if you only going to use them for reading it shouldn't be a problem.

  4. Maybe the solution would be to find a company that sells good specs at a reasonable price and experiment that way.  Also, if you treat your specs in a reasonable they should give you a reasonable period of wear.  The company below seems very competitively priced.

Like anything else, it boils down to - you pays your money and you makes your choice.

  5. Half frames aren't as strong as full frames, there is more chance of the lens chipping on the edges as it is exposed.  If you're normally careful with your glasses you shouldn't have a problem though.

  6. My optician encouraged me to get the insurance when I bought some "CUTE" half frames. I've had them for about a week and I can tell that they are very delicate and will probalby break within the year.

  7. My experience shows that they are exactly half as strong

  8. Mine held out about the same amount of time as my full frames. I moved to contacts now though as I can't be done with glasses anymore. Probably they aren't as strong but if you sit on either pair they will break and if you drop either pair on the floor they won't. There is probably a difference but you either break glasses or you don't.

  9. When I had a pair they dropped to bits within 2 months of purchase and I had to fork out more money to replace them.

    I hope this helps.
