  4. Yes. HDMI, or High Definition Multimedia Interface, is a way of transmitting a video and audio signal digitally. By using an HDMI cable you can send a picture and sound from a source (DVD, HD Box, Blu-Ray and others) to a display (TV, Monitor, Projector). It is currently the cable with the greatest capacity for delivering high definition images and audio. That doesn't always mean that it does give the best picture but it usually does. HDMI is required for the upscaling (increasing the resolution) of DVD images within the DVD player to 1080P (the highest resolution available on current TV sets).

    HDMI is also capable of sending additional information along with the picture and sound like turning on the TV and automatically switching to the right input when you push play on the Blu-Ray player
