Are hermit crabs smart enough to get out of there cage? where do i look for him?

my hermit crab has been getting out of his cage that has a lid on it. i have no clue how. is he smart enough to get out? if he gets out were do i look for him?

yes they are. good luck. i would look everywhere. they love to climb.

youll find that hermit crabs LOVE to climb and can exploit even the smallest cranny to escape. if you lost him i would suggest looking in dark places, under the bed, under the couch, etc. then when you find him do a thorough search of the enclosure and seal up any holes or crannies you see.

you may also want to check if your lid is securely tightened and see if anything is close enough to the lid that he can climb on and get out
