  1. High gas prices are having a negative impact on the economy of the entire world, starting with food. We must not reduce out dependence on foreign oil, we must reduce our dependence on oil altogether. Petroleum is slavery. When John Kerry ran for President he said to put our scientists and colleges to the task, because he saw the handwriting on the wall. Bush decided that no energy policy was fine.

  2. Well, jade, since you Rollerblade to work everyday, at a distance of 30 miles and don't mind the high gas prices, You shouldn't think that I am lying, you see I live 50 miles from work and have one leg- I have to hop 50 miles to work everyday and hop 50 miles back, I'm thinking about letting someone ride my back to share in the expenses.I have to eat a very large breakfast to give me the energy to get there you know.It was nice of you to share your story with us.Thank you.

  3. Gas prices also dictate the price of almost every other item. Anything found in a store is delivered in a diesel truck, the higher the gas the more the charge, the higher the price for the product. Add to that the increase to make anything that uses petroleum, majority of any plastic products and its packaging.

High prices mean less money for the average person, who most likely can't afford to sit home and devise a way to make his car run on garbage.

  4. No. They are no worse than any other thing we need to buy. Inflation is running rampant on everything. Taxes are hurting people more than gas prices. Figure it out.

  5. Gasoline usage in this country an addiction. We NEED it everyday. School buses, airplanes, rocket ships, cars, etc. Gasoline is what helps the world go round. If it gets expensive, people will not stop purchasing it no matter what new ideas you think it will inspire. Gasoline is a necessity. We cant just give it up and jump on a bike.

  6. great.

now explain why we should continue to pay more and more for everything that is shipped on wheels, i.e. everything

edit: "Gas prices don't affect food that much it the plants that food is produced in. Trucking companies have a set gas price that they payed for when gas was low. Most companies get gallon of gas for 2 dollars."

  7. Believe the figure to make alternative sources of fuel competitive with gas is $2.40 a gallon. Would support taxes to keep price at that level, but 3.00 or above is tuff on cost of living. Don't drive so since the mid seventies have been hoping someone would develop effective system of mass transportation. The next ten years will be very interesting. Obama might do for Earth travel same thing Kennedy did for Space travel.

  8. OHH YESSS....

  9. yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... where do u live or do you drive?

  10. Gas prices are horrible!!! Gas prices have doubled in the last couple years. People can barely afford to go to work anymore! It's sad that where I'm at that $3.87 is a bargain for a gallon of gas.

  11. Yes they are that bad.  You probably live in a city so you can walk to work or take public transit.  I live in the country.  You have to drive 20 min just to go to the store.  I drive 1 hour to work every day in my car.  It costs me around 150 dollars a week to pay for gas just to go to work compared to 75 dollars a couple years ago.  After paying for gas I end up with about 150 to 200 dollars left over at the end of the week.  By the time I pay my utilities and house payment I have nothing left.  I was putting around 2000 dollars a year back for savings for my kids education but now I can't even pay all of my bills.  Something has to give.

  12. duhhhhhhhhhh all that gas pays big bucks.

  13. If that's the case the price of everything is going to continue going up. The problem is no one is getting paid more at their jobs. The average person can't do anything to control what type of transportation is available like fuel cells. So that's a ridiculous statement.

  14. Gas prices are extremely high, a lot of people can't even afford to go to work anymore.
