  1. Pixels really only relate to picture print quality. If you are looking to take pictures from a distance, you'll want a higher zoom as well. Cameras that have the lenses actually zoom out usually have higher zooms than ones that don't come out. You want to look for a high optical zoom. Digital zoom allows you to get closer, however, the image gets grainier. Also, I prefer lithium ion batteries as opposed to AA. LI batteries hold their charge longer and all you have to do is plug it into the wall for a few hours. If you get AAs, you have the perk of buying batteries anywhere, but the camera sucks them dry so fast that I don't think it's worth it.

My mom just bought the Casio Exslim and loves it!

  3. I would suggest not worrying about the pixels. Anything 6MP or higher is just fine. In some ways, too many pixels on a really small sensor may be bad. From what I understand, when you have too many pixels on a small sensor, the camera has to do more to reduce noise at low light conditions. Here are some of the other things to look for:

    - Brand: stay with a reputable brand like canon, nikon, sony, casio, kodak

    - Zoom range: go for something with a 6x optical zoom or higher

    - Carrying convenience: Since you are squarely looking at the practical aspect, make sure the size is something you would not mind carrying around

    - Look around websites like dpreview.com to make sure that the camera has a good reputation for reliability

  4. Pixels and Brands are the most things people look at when buying a camera. Surly higher pixels means better quality and making the picture bigger is easier. I have a 3.0 MP Canon camer and i have taken grate professional pictures with it i swear you would think I have a $1200 Camera. Anything from 2-4MP is good for anyone. I also think Canon is the best brand to buy simply cause Canon is pretty much strictly a Camera manufacture. What you are looking to buy is fine, but for everyday pics, i wouldn't spend over $200

  5. Hi,

I did a lot of research and found Canon PowerShot SD870 is to be the best camera for the money. (8.3 Megapixel, Compact Camera, 3.8x Optical Zoom, 4x Digital Zoom, CCD Sensor, Video Capability Included, 3" LCD).

This camera is totally awesome! Takes very high quality pictures at a very fast speed. I highly recommend it for its small size, image stabilizer and long life rechargeable battery.

From the first day I received it. I just love it. Great shots up close and far away. Moreover, this is a very handy, tiny and light camera that you can carry in your pocket without feeling it.

The screen is huge and the colors are really good.

Menus and settings are very easy and clear. Some tips appear on the screen when you are using different modes, it is very helpful. Great camera!!!

It is cheaper to buy a digital camera online. You can save tons of money.

    Good luck!

    I bought it here:
