Are hitting on the range more healthy than playing on a golf course?

Usually I start with 150 balls and later with additional 50 at the range. I'm all sweaty and pump up when I'm done. But on a golf course, I don't feel all tired, even when I walk through 18 holes. It's my tendon that get cramp. But my heart beat is pumping normally. So what da ya think, hitting balls on the range is more healthy than playing on the course?

  1. I disagree. Swinging a club at the range doesn't involve any walking carrying a set of clubs. Rangework will work the legs and back for each swing but no cardiovascular or respitory benefit because your heart rate is not increased. No hills to stress your leg muscle groups.

Healthier on the course. If your tendons hurt then your shoes don't fit you. You need to get fitted to a good pair of shoes, don't skimp on your feet or your eyes my father used to say.

Get a double shoulder strap bag or walk just 9 holes but definetly the course.

  2. Well, something is better than nothing.  If you cannot afford the time for the course play I think the driving range would help you burn a bit of your fat.  However, a actual course play will sure have better factors, the whole body is being exercized, including the mind as well.

Of course there are walking courses and some come with buggy.  The choice is yours.  Regards

  3. Your answer in relation to golf not physical health is no the range is bad for your game and your body. That doesn't mean stop going to the range just hit less balls and make sure their good balls as well. What I mean by that is range balls suck and their a mix between balls that have been beaten to h**l and ok balls that at least get predictable flight. Hit about 50 good balls some drivers 7 irons 5 irons and wedges get a good routine then go to the course and repeat to play good golf.

  4. Any sort of physical activity is healthy.  Obviously you are not going to hit 200 balls on the golf course in a round unless you are horrible.  You could double bogie every hole on a par 72 course and hit half the amount of shots you are hitting at the range.  You can't compare practicing and playing.  You practice to play better.  You will obviously burn more calories playing on the course since you are walking.  Either way any sort of physical activity is healthy.
