Are hollow point bullets traceable?

if hollow points expands upon exiting from the barrel, is it still traceable through the barrel's striations?

  1. they don't start expanding untill they hit something.  There is usually enough intact to trace even if the bullet completely come apart after impact.  More often the base will be intact as will the  rifling marks


  2. Yes, as a good portion of the bullet's base doesn't expand, and therefor retains the traceable marks from the rifling.
