  1. Both. Homeless people are usually either veterans who took drugs during Viet Nam and (in conjunction with the horrors of war) fried their brains. Society can only do so much to help them. There are programs out there, but they don't ever go to them.

Also, some people are abused and mistreated as children and are basically screwed up in the head.

There are people who are just lazy and drug addicts, but they are usually mistreated in some way too as a child.

Just think, when parents love their children and take care of them, they usually turn out ok.

  2. Except for the mentally ill; drug addicts, and the shiftless I think a lot are homeless because of society. With all the buy now pay later even our government advocates ,many got caught in the housing bust and ended up in California in tent cities. The average wage for a family with children is becoming more and more inadequate. Low income housing is less available and everything costs more since the gas crisis.

  3. Probably best to ask this in mental health. We all choose the best choice at any given moment based on our knowledge. We all need more knowledge. Being socially connected helps to keep choices safe.

  4. It depends on the person. Alot of homeless people are homeless because they don't feel like working, or worrying about bills. Therefore, it's by choice. However, my parents were homeless for three months, and it definately wasn't by choice. they were kicked out of there hotel room that they were living in without a notice.

Alot of other families have the problem of being able to pay the bills. Some say it's by choice that they are homeless, but low income housing is becoming scarce.

  5. Depends on the person.  Many have mental illness and can't function on their own, and don't always have someone to take care of them.  Many people fall on hard times and end up having nowhere to go.  But, a good portion of them are homeless by choice.  The majority of these being junkies who have given up everything to feed their addictions.  The reason I consider that by choice is because they chose to do the drugs which put them on the streets.  And, believe it or not, there are a select few individuals who simply would rather live on the streets and "do what they want, when they want (except take a bath)", then work and be a productive member of society.  Oh, and some are underaged runaways, which also constitutes homeless by choice.  I guess it all depends on the individual and their circumstances.

  6. 50-75% of the homeless are afflicted with a serious mental disorder, such as schizophrenia.. so, they of course become homeless not because of choice or society.. some people become homeless by choice because they are lazy

  7. we are responsible with our own action so for me it is by choice.

  8. YES- value- the poor tend to believe in luck (fatalism)

-if they get money they spend it

-no one has to get pregnant in lone parent families

    NO-

    -wages are too low

    -unemployement- not enough jobs

    -benefits are too low

    -society creates poverty

(gd luck if ure doing the exam 2mrw)

  9. As far as I have observed, very less people would think they don't need a home. Otherwise because of situations and compulsions, they become homeless.

  10. neither one they are homeless because they are lacking a brain function that  is needed to trigger a process its basically the same process that takes place in you or i that gets us motivated.  I have found that homeless people are content and I have realized there is no reason to feel sorry for them they are not stressed out about so why should I be.
