Me and my friend have been trying to play for the last two years and each time fitness director won't allow it. But this year there has been a rumor that we'll be able to try out for the team and I'm just wondering if the rumor is true.

  1. contact hslda to see.  I wouldn't trust the ROE to tell you the truth.  You need a homeschooling organization who knows the law.

  2. I'd forget the rumors and go directly to the source: Contact your local Regional Superintendent of Education.  This office oversees all the schools in your district and adjacent districts.  Normally such a decision is left to the local district; however, you should first find out if the Regional Superintendent's Office has a position on the matter.  If his/her position is a  positive one, you can perhaps use that as part of your argument to persuade your district.  After this, since you already know where the fitness director stands on the issue, you need to have your parents involved and go to the building principal.  If this is unsuccessful, go to the district superintendent.  If this doesn't work, you will have to go to the School Board.  If this is unsuccessful, you'll have to drop the matter as legal expenses to challenge the School Board would be too costly just to be able to play sports.  It could literally run over $10,000 in legal expenses... and that doesn't guarantee you will win.
