Are horse trials the same as eventing?

Am doing a project and really need to know the answer.

yup they are. I am doing a horse trial in a few weeks and its basically the same thing! You do dressage, stadium, and cross country, but in one day..hope this helps =]

A horse trial is a one day event.  It includes none of the extra parts that are included in a three day event such as the road test but simply includes the dressage test, a round of cross country jumping and then a round of stadium jumping.  It is judged, generally...it's been awhile since I last rode in a horse trial...by removing points for faults, such as a refusal and the rider with the least amount of faults at the end of the day wins.
