  1. of course they are because there are also wild horses

  2. Yes they are. In a herd of horses there is a social heirarchy with an alpha male or female at the top. If you watch horses go through a gate they will invariably go through in the same order every time, each according to their standing in the herd. In the wild a herd of horses will have a stallion and his harem, a collection of mares belonging to that stallion. When they run, the stallion will take up the rearmost position, keeping an eye on his harem.

  3. Almost any animal with hooves is a prey animal that lives in a group, or, a herd.

  4. I think so. After all, aren't they rather social animals?

  5. Yes, you can see this in the wild by looking at the wild mustangs in the Grand Canyon or at the ponies on Chincoteague Island.

Horses adapt easily though; so, if you only have room for one it will be fine if you give it a lot of love and attention.

    Have a great day!

  6. They seem to gather in groups, travel together, and usually a stallion is dominate, so yes they are a herd of horses.

  7. Yes, horses are herd animals.
