Conflict seems to be built into the human gene. What exactly makes us want to war/fight and where did it come from?

  1. Observations on animals such as baboon studys, the fights which take place between the apes and many other animals suggests that combat is an artificially induced evolutionary pressure which promotes the survival of the fittest, oestensibly the one who wins gets to mate and has the best territory to raise a family.

So in humans combat seems to be an evolutionary strategy to determine the most fit and most capable to continue their gene pool into the future.

  2. I think charlien and Ash have both hit upon it.  Simply put, the aggressors fight for a combination of pure greed and lust, while the defenders fight to keep what they consider theirs.  (I suppose one could argue that lust is a form of greed.)  Modern man now also fights because of alliances.  Generally, logic dictates that there is *strength in numbers*, so when your ally is attacked you help him defend.  Partly because of the alliance alone and partly because you could be the next to be attacked.

  3. See fights started from when the ancestors of man were created . fights for female.fights for terretory .but as the human brain grew their needs increased.so they fought not only for females or terretory but also for many other things. The want of the things makes us fight.

  4. Like all higher animals we need to be able to physically defend ourselves and like most we have an aggressive instinct.

Men have always needed to protect themselves, their women and children from hostile tribes; consequently, there must always have been hostile tribes.

But we are born into a greater battle. This is the spiritual battle in which our souls are both the soldiers and the battlefield. We need to be well-armed for this.

    I'm a Christian.

  5. the basic reason is ignorance and shallow-mindedness

  6. I like to think for me that I only fight to defend. I am now in the biggest fight in my life. I am fighting a big business and will probably lose. If I don't fight, then what example do I set for my children. Regaurdless if I win or if I lose, my goal is to try and make a small change for what I leave behind.

What makes me fight is honor. I hope my children have the same honor.

  7. No. Family-  Some have an environmental reasons, which causes them to think it's a normal behavior. . Wars have been caused by that mentality.
