  1. Kind of...

There are multiple different designs of Hybrids that companies have made.

One version is that the electric and the fuel engine will always be running together. So when you put your foot on the accelerator the electric engine will give more power to reach the speed you want without using as much fuel, and when you decelerate the electric engine cuts off and is used as a generator to charge the batteries. But this type of hybrid car is not very good in bumper to bumper traffic although it will save you money on fuel, not as much as other types.

Another version is the fuel engine will only kick in if you reach a certain speed usually 60km/h. So you can just run on electric if you travel in bumper to bumper traffic which is dirt cheap! :)

    I hoped that helped!

  2. hybrids use both electric and gasoline

  3. hybrids run on gas until you get under a certain speed, then they kick over onto electric, like when approaching and accelerating from a stop sign, or bumper to bumper traffic.

  4. no hybrids still use gas then switch to electric                        elecric is only energy

  5. hybrids have gas and electric.

parallel hybrids are gas cars with electric assist.  most of todays hybrids are of this type.

series hybrids have no direct connection between the gas motor and the wheels. the gas motor charges the batteries. series hybrids can also be charged through the grid, by plugging them in.  this type of hybrid has been in use for decades in trains. most hybrids being introduced between 2010 and 2015 will be this type.

pure electric cars have no gas.

fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) are considered pure electric, even though, if they're produced, they will probably use gas in the short term.

  6. Kinda of.  Hybrids have gas engines that run an alternator to provide electricity to recharge the batteries of the Hybrid.

  7. nope, they use gas, still bad for nature

  8. Depends on the car.  Most hybrid get there energy from a small gass engine, that turns a generator and produces electricity that is then used to run an electric motor.  They gain there efficiency by using the generator as a brake when the car is slowing down.  True electric cars still have a ways to go before they become practical.

  9. No, hybrids use an internal combustion engine to produce electricity to drive the car via batteries. Electric cars only use electricity from batteries which are recharged from a normal power outlet.
