  1. Fresh water. That's why climatologists are saying they pose a danger to the ecosystem if they melt in the arctic.

It has to be extremely cold to freeze salt water. Colder than it ever gets on Earth.

  2. when salt water freezes, the ice that forms is 10% less salty than the water from which it came.  This is because ice is crystallized water, the salt in the ice isn't part of the crystal but trapped in it.

However, most icebergs come from glaciers.  Not much salt to exclude.  impurities in an iceburg are more likely to be from snow.

  3. Fresh. Salt water cannot freeze at that temperature.

  4. fresh.  the salt is too heavy to freeze.

  5. fresh water, it is impossible for salt water to freeze at any possibly occurring temperature.

  6. Generally fresh.  Most of them are chunks of the ice rivers that flow into the ocean.
