  1. They are not popular with Americans at all.  Americans can easily go to beaches in California and Florida and Hawaii, and if they go abroad to beach resorts it is mostly to Mexico and the Caribbean - which are much closer to the US, are generally less expensive than the Spanish Mediterranean islands, and unlike the Spanish islands are warm enough for swimming all year round.

Few Americans would go all the way to the Mediterranean for a beach vacation.  If you're on a months-long European backpacking trip, you might spend a few days on an island like Ibiza or Ios, but most Americans who go to Europe go there for the cities.

  2. What do you concider as "popular"??? Sure, you'll find a few

americans on any island in Europe. Ibiza is a lovly place to

visit & more "exclusive" than Mallorca, where you find 80%

of germans & lots of folks from The U.K. vacationing there.

If I had to choose, I'd prefer  : Ibiza !!!

Wish you a pleasant time!!!Lots of greetings from Germany...

    All my love.... Annette***
