Are jacks for boys or girls?

i've had someone ask me and i always thought they were for boys. but i had someone imphatically tell me that jacks were for girls and that marbles were meant for boys. i've never seen any girls, except tomboys, play jacks and i was taught myself how to play jacks by my brother. can anyone provide some information as to who they were meant to be played by? thanks.

When I was a boy (I'm 54) Jacks were something girls would play with.  Having said that, I played them as well with some of the girls in our neighborhood.  I never really had a problem playing with girls.  But I haven't seen girls play with them since.  Even my daughter wasn't interested in them.

I believe that the game jacks are for anyone who would like to play. Both boys and girls should be welcome to play this game. However, I really haven't seen anyone play jacks in a long time...

they are for both.

today almost everything is for both because we don't have those sexist things anymore.

but in the past it was mostly for boys.

Neither s*x plays those games these days. But, if they wanted to, it wouldn't matter really boy or girl.
